The Last Light

“MOOOOOOOOOOMMM!!!! MAAAAMAA” Anastasia screamed. She could not understand what was happening. Tears were stinging in her eyes, her heart dropped in her chest. She had never felt as sad as she did in this moment.

“MAMA! Please! Please wake up, please!!” Anastasia could not understand the pain she was feeling. She had not been hit or bitten. She didn’t dare let go of her mother though to double check.

All of a sudden, Anastasia felt a strong arm around her stomach. Papa. He pulled her up to his chest, but she felt her grip being pulled away from Mama. They were suddenly in the house.

“Papa, please, no! Please, we need to get mama!” Little Anastasia was hardly able to get the words out as she sobbed.

“Anya, look at me. Look at me! I will try and help Mama, but you need to be a good girl and stay right here. Do you understand?” Anastasia nodded her head. “You do not move a muscle. I love you baby, I really do.”

“I love you, too, Papa.”

Anastasia watched as Papa walked out of the door, although the entire front of the house was just a giant walkway now.

Little did Anastasia know that that would be the last time she ever saw her father.

The Twisted Mind of Jesse Parks

Jesse walked down the road, feeling all alone. Nothing had been going right...for a long time. There were things in her past that she wanted to forget things she said that she wanted to take back. Words...Actions...Selfish Ambitions...all things she had done...all things that had hurt people...all things she wanted to undo. But, alas, they were done. There was no going back. most bridges were gone...lost forever. This wasn't fair, she thought...everyone deserved a second chance, right? Why didn't she get one? Why was she so not special?

Up walked Peeter. The same guy that had been catching up with her every morning for months. Goodness, he was so attractive. No wonder he didn't ask her out. Jesse always had a way of repelling men. They never approached her. Maybe she was just unapproachable...that was probably her fault, too. She didn't want anyone close to her because she might hurt them too...or they would leave her. Leave her alone, hurt and broken. It wasn't worth it, either way.

"Hey," Peeter said, "How are you doing this morning?"
"I'm doing wonderful," she lied, "just like every other morning." This was the ruse that she had everyone convinced of. "Just heading to work," she smiled.
"Really, Jesse? Because you look upset."
She must look more pathetic than she thought, that was no good, she would have to work on that.
"No, really, I'm fine. I just didn't get enough sleep last night."
"Oh, okay. Well hey, I was wondering if you wanted to go have dinner tonight. We can do it early if you want so that you can catch some shut eye tonight."
Really? A pity date? She must really be off of her game. She knew he was only doing it to lift her spirits.
"Oh, well, that's not going to work, I don't think I have a ton of work to do today and I will probably have to bring some of it home with me, so, sorry." In truth, her job didn't require her to do much of anything. She was usually bored after eleven o'clock.
"Well, maybe you can call me when you do have time," he said with a smile, and he handed her his card.
"Oh, sure. Talk to you later. Bye," but she never planned on doing so.

My Short Stories

I was getting tired of having thoughts and dreams that I thought would make a great story and never finishing the story once I had begun to write. I feel like having a for real place to publish them will force an incentive to actually write them down and finish them. So here they are! My dreams and thoughts shall now suddenly appear! POOF!

P.S. The blog is still a work in progress, please ignore additional tabs that don't work and such.

Chapter 1.2

She sat there at her desk, hardly remembering where she was. She was deep in thought. A knock on her desk startled her.

“So do you Juliana?” It was her boss. She was probably asking for the paperwork that was supposed to be on her desk an hour ago.

“Oh Laurie, I am so sorry! I completely zoned out! I will have that paperwork done right away. I’ll even work through lunch.”

“Good, because that meeting is in three hours and I don’t want to look bad.”

Juliana felt horrible! Okay Juliana, you need to focus. This is important. You want that promotion, don’t you? But what am I going to wear tonight? I want to be dazzling…no…focus. Juliana continued with her work but found it hard not to think about her date. Sure, Kayne was always busy with work, but he made up for it in the few dates they had time for. He usually took her to some expensive restaurant and let her order whatever she wanted. Then they would head home and have a great time. Of course, he had a tendency to answer calls at dinner, but he always assured it was an emergency.

Alright, M.C. Work-time.

Chapter 1

Juliana’s eyes shot wide open. But the feeling didn’t go away. She suddenly felt nauseous. Everything around her was a dusky grey. She wasn’t in the church anymore. Where was she? She then realized that she was at home, under her covers in her own room.

She looked at her left ring finger. Where was her ring? That’s when she remembered that she didn’t actually have one. That most definitely must have been a dream.

Juliana sat up in her bed. She tried desperately to forget the bad parts of that dream. She just wanted to hold onto the good parts.

The ringing of her phone startled her. She picked up her phone and answered it without looking at the caller id.

“Hello?”

“Hey babe! Did I wake you up?” It was Juliana’s boyfriend, Kayne.

“Oh, hey honey. Yeah, I just woke up, but you didn’t wake me. I’m glad you called because I was actually wan…”

“Alright, that’s good and all babe, but I have to go. I’ll talk to you later. Love ya.”

Juliana was going to ask about their plans for later that night at Taloni’s. Oh well, she new that Kayne was always busy at work.

She rolled out of bed. She had to be at work in two hours.

Preface

Juliana Hope was so excited and happy! She smiled in pure ecstasy at the ring gleaming at her from her left ring finger. She could only wait with increasing longing as that wonderful and  amazing moment drew near. Everything was perfect. Life was amazing. Juliana could not wait until she was walking down that aisle towards the perfect man of her dreams.

"Everything is in place. We need the wedding party to come out and line up," said the wedding planner. While everyone else filed out of the room, Juliana took one last long look at herself in the mirror. She was in heaven! Her hair, her gown, everything was absolutely perfect.

"Juliana, we're ready for you."

Here we go, she thought. She slowly turned away from the mirror. But as she did, that feeling of sure bliss started fading away. What was wrong? With each step, the feeling got dimmer and dimmer as a new emotion began to creep up. Loneliness. She was feeling lonely? How could she feel lonely when the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with was just on the other side of the church doors? As she got closer and closer to those doors, however, the feeling continued to grow until it was as if there was a giant weight crushing down on her chest. Finally, the emotion overcame her and she began to sob. She could not stop crying no matter how hard she tried. She squeezed her eyes tight, trying with all her might to get rid of this most horrible feeling.
